Open Positions
Personal development and scientific discovery rely on curiosity, creativity, and multiple perspectives. As a team we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where people from all backgrounds thrive, no matter their race, ethnicity, gender, age, religion, language, abilities/disabilities, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, or country of origin. We value and foster collaboration within and outside our group, and we welcome multiple approaches and points of view.
Currently Open Positions
We have an open position for a PhD student in microbiology/ microbial biochemistry in our group, focussing on RNA-Ln interactions and identifying new proteins involved in Ln-dependent metabolism of bacteria. The project aims to take a closer look at the regulatory landscape linked to Ln-dependent metabolism by employing sequencing-based small RNA and ribosome profiling.
We also have an open position for a Master student in biochemistry working on mechanistic investigations of Methanol Dehydrogenase (MD) Enzymes by employing protein electrochemistry, spectroscopy and enzyme purification techniques.
Further we have another open interdisciplinary Master student positions on bacterial growth studies open for applications. The project will deal with Bacterial Growth Studies with Rare Earth Element Traces in Red Mud and provide insights into bioinorganic chemisty, microbiology and environmental chemistry.
We are looking forward to your application, please find details on the projects below.
Thesis/ Internship
If you are interested in Bachelor/ Master thesis or internships in our group please write to the respective group members or subgroups directly. Roughly divided by techniques used: Biochemistry/Enzyme subgroup: Rishir, Kora, Sophie biochembioac(at)uni-duesseldorf.de, Synthesis subgroup: Doreen, Mikey, Rachel, Jonathan, Sarah, Johanna syntheticbioac(at)uni-duesseldorf.de (*), Analytics/Lanthanide Separation with bacteria subgroup: Philippe, Sophie, Pia analyticalbioac(at)uni-duesseldorf.de. You can read more about their projects in the respective profiles. I applicable, please attach a short overview of your profile and previous internships you have done to the email.
(*) Please note that we do not have capacities to take on any more Bachelor students until march 2026 in the syntheticbioac subgroup.
